COMMUNITY CARE & CODE OF CONDUCT

Muslim Pride is a community-rooted space centering queer and trans Muslims. We are committed to creating environments grounded in care, respect, accessibility, and accountability. We implement a safety framework that includes clear expectations, reporting pathways, and designated support roles at our events.

By attending or participating in Muslim Pride, you agree to the following:

• Respect the identities, boundaries, and lived experiences of others

• Practice consent in all interactions — physical, verbal, and social

• Do not engage in harassment, intimidation, or unwanted attention

• No racist, Islamophobic, anti-Black, transphobic, misogynistic, ableist, or otherwise oppressive behavior

• Move with care in a space that centers queer and trans Muslims — not all spaces are for everyone in the same way

• Attendees must meet venue requirements and follow entry policies

At each event, a designated member of the Muslim Pride team will be available to support attendees.

If you experience or witness harm, you can:

• Speak to a team member in person

• Ask to be connected to the designated safety lead

• Contact us after the event at: MuslimPrideTO@gmail.com

All reports are taken seriously and handled with care and confidentiality.

We take harm seriously.

This includes (but is not limited to):

• sexual harassment or misconduct

• verbal abuse, threats, or intimidation

• repeated boundary violations

If harm is reported or observed, Muslim Pride will respond in ways that prioritize the safety and wellbeing of those affected.

This may include:

• addressing the situation directly

• limiting participation

• removing individuals from the space

• working with venue staff where appropriate

Our priority is the safety and wellbeing of those in the space.

We recognize that safety looks different for different people. We ask everyone to move with awareness, responsibility, and care toward one another.

This space is collective — we all play a role in maintaining it.

We are committed to working with venues to support accessibility needs wherever possible.

This may include:

  • accessible entrances and facilities
  • seating options
  • clear communication about the space

If you have specific access needs, we encourage you to reach out in advance so we can do our best to support you.

Please ask for consent before taking photos or videos of others.

Not everyone is able to be publicly visible, and we ask that this be respected at all times.

Content captured at Muslim Pride events may not be used for commercial purposes without explicit consent from the organizers and those involved.

We are intentional about privacy and the realities of visibility within our communities.

We ask attendees to:

  • not record or share content in ways that could put others at risk
  • avoid posting identifiable images of others without consent

This space exists with an understanding that not everyone can be fully public, and that must be respected.

If substances are present, we ask that everyone engage responsibly and with awareness of others.

Behaviour that becomes disruptive, unsafe, or impacts the wellbeing of others will not be tolerated.

MUSLIM PRIDE EXISTS BECAUSE OUR COMMUNITIES HAVE ALWAYS HAD TO CREATE SPACE FOR OURSELVES. THIS CODE OF CONDUCT IS PART OF THAT ONGOING PRACTICE- ROOTED IN CARE, ACCOUNTABILITY, AND COLLECTIVE RESPONSIBILITY.
